DEACONS: The biblical role of a deacon (Acts 6:1-7) can be expressed in two words – “meeting needs.” This is implied in the title “deacon.” Diakonos is the Greek word for deacon. It appears twenty-nine times in the New Testament, but only five times is it translated as “deacon.” The other times it is written as “servant.” Diakonos refers to one who waits on tables. The primary focus of the servant deacons is people. Their specific responsibilities at Hope:
- To meet with the Staff /Pastors to identify needs among members.
- To seek out the needy in the body and find ways to support them.
- To welcome new guests and help connect them in the body.
- To follow up on those who have been hospitalized or enduring loss.

TRUSTEES:
The trustees, like the servant deacons, have a specific role. They oversee the cash-flow, investments and property of the church. While the elders make all the final decisions on money issues the trustees accurately keep the elders informed as to the current funds on hand and when the need arises to go to the congregation to make special appeals.
